Goal Setting
Are you S.M.A.R.T?
This is an interesting chapter, self-leadership and teamwork
skills. How many of you feel that you have mastered
the five stages of self-leadership? Goal
setting is an important stage in self leadership. When was the last time you have set goals as it relates to this
chapter?
To be successful in sales, planning your strategy for
accomplishing your sales is encouraged. Remember SMART (specific, measurable,
achievable, realistic, and timely) concept where the goals that you set helps
bring structure to your goals and objectives. Performance targets are
prioritized and resources are allocated with each goal and objective. As
a fundraiser, we are considered the sales team of a nonprofit organization and
strategic planning is very important. Each fiscal year, I analyze the previous
fiscal year's campaign activity and evaluate what was successful. Then a new
strategy is created that includes not only my goals and objectives, but those
that have been placed upon me by my national office. If I did not plan, my
fundraising efforts would not be as effective to generate the amount of revenue
that I may have projected.
