As with personality theories, Freud’s theory
and other psychoanalytic theories may be difficult to test and prove in court. Analyze
Freud’s theory and discuss the impact that it has on the development of
criminal behavior. What roles do the Id, Ego, and Superego play in problematic
behavior, and what influence do defensive mechanisms have on the development of
criminal behavior? Discuss the pros and cons of Freud’s theory and how you feel
it would hold up in court.
