HIS 381 Week 1 Assignment Help | Wilmington University
Week 1 Final Project Milestone 1- for a future 15
to 20 slide presentation in week seven
FINAL PROJECT (which is a 15-20 slide
Power Point relating a topic from the past to
the present due in week 7). Look at the
examples in week one. Final Project Milestone
#1 (Brainstorming a Topic) is worth 5
points.
To get started- this week you are to write 150 words (one paragraph) on the
topic you chose and why. Submit that paragraph through CANVAS.
Examples of topics relating the past to
the present: Topics can be 1) Political (example-
laws, military issues, preventing terrorism,
globalization vs. nationalism etc); 2)
Economic (creating jobs to lower
unemployment, helping a nation’s per capita income,
trade policies, etc); 3) Social
(women’s rights, human trafficking, child labor, etc); 4)
Cultural, Religious (art movements
reflecting society, role of music or literature with
historic events and movements,
religion’s role in society etc.)
The topic must be relevant to today-
items in the news.
Look at the milestone one example below;
then the full power point (google slide) examples also below.
To help you better-
Your persuasive
argument is comprised of three parts:
·
What is the issue? (A neutral statement about the topic - you don't pick
sides yet)
·
What is your opinion? (Tell me your side now)
·
What points will be used to support your opinion? (What evidence will
you use to support your opinion?)
You can also think of
your topic in terms of problem/solution.
·
What is the topic?
·
What interests me about this topic?
·
Why is this topic important?
·
What could my argument be?
·
Where are some likely resources?
This does not have to
be APA formatted because it's brainstorming. This entry should be full
sentences instead of bullet points so I can see how your ideas connect.
To help you as you begin thinking about
subjects that you are curious about, examine the SUNY Empire State College aid,
“Developing a Research
Question (Links to an external site.).”
Here is an example of
a topic:
“For my research project, I propose to consider the question of whether
restored diplomatic relations with Cuba will introduce elements of capitalism
in the economy, causing the island nation to move away from communism."
Another example:
“Social media has empowered the masses and I am particularly interested
in how open access and online sharing is shaping civil unrest and wars.
