Students will be required to read a journal article from a series of journal articles, predetermined and provided by the instructor. Students must write a four-page report on the journal article, critically reviewing the article and content (see formatting instructions on rubric). Students will also discuss the validity of the technique, how it compares to other currently used practices and how this technique impacts on the future of forensic science. Citations must be utilized from other scholarly material as needed (using the referencing format from the Journal of Forensic Sciences). The student will be evaluated on their ability to support or dispute the article and its content. Discussion should include, but not be limited to the relevance, usage and validity of the article subject matter, how it compares to other currently used practices, and how it may impact on the future of forensic science. The assignment will be evaluated using a standardized rubric based on several criteria including: clarity and focus of answers given, command of the English language (grammar, spelling, etc.) and proper formatting according to the required guidelines.
