For example, it specifically presents “Asian Americans,” a category that often includes over 45 distinct ethnicities speaking over 100 language dialects. Next, review the Pew Research Center’s Chapter 3: Demographic & Economic Data, by Race (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. Scroll down to the College Completion Rate by Race/Ethnicity, 1964-2012 chart, which shares the data for one of the social trends regarding Asian Americans. Then, describe what the data says about the trend for Asian Americans. Next, evaluate at least one reason these broad racial categories are useful and at least one reason why these broad categories are problematic. Your initial post for each discussion should be a minimum of 250 words. Use scholarly sources to support your responses. Include citations and references in APA style. Review the posts of your peers, focusing on the reasons why it is or is not useful to make characterizations about broad racial groupings. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7.
