One of the other aspects to consider when evaluating if a research study is ethically sound concerns financial gain.  Often, research is considered to be less than ethical if there is a profit to be made by the organization conducting the research.  This is something to really think about when evaluating who to go to for funding for your research and if you are the funding agency, how will the study be received.  

For example, assume that the Taser Corporation was going to fund a research study comparing the effectiveness of Tasers vs. firearms for police officers.  Obviously, they have a vested interest in the outcome since it could affect their financial profit.  I

Is this an ethical study?  Why or why not?  In the end, this study could be very beneficial for law enforcement world-wide, so does that matter when evaluating the ethics?
