Demonstration Exercises provide step-by-step instruction on how to conduct a statistical procedure relevant to the same week’s online lecture topic. The statistical procedure is performed using the computer program SPSS. During the weekly face-to-face tutorial class the tutor will summarise the contents of the Demonstration Exercise. Before attending this class it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you become familiar with that week’s Demonstration Exercise, having viewed the presentation in your own time and if possible attempted the tasks using a computer supporting SPSS. Once you have watched the Demonstration Exercise and feel confident with the use of SPSS to achieve the scenario answers, you can attempt the Assessment Exercise in your own time. The Assessment Exercise uses a different scenario and data spreadsheet to the Demonstration Exercise. However the statistical analysis used, and the type of questions asked, are identical. Therefore, if you follow the procedures outlined in the Demonstration Exercise you will be able to complete the Assessment Exercise.
