Advertisements for Schedule 3 medicines listed in Appendix H of the current Poisons Standard (the Standard for Uniform Scheduling of Drugs and Poisons) are to be accompanied by the words ‘Your pharmacist’s advice is required’.
 
These words must be placed as close as possible to the item being advertised. Placement of these words in a footnote is not acceptable.
 
From the above, it can be seen that Schedule 2 medicines can be advertised.
 
As detailed before, Schedule 2 medicines must be placed within the pharmacy and ideally closer to the Pharmacist - the area commonly known as the "Professional Services Area".
 
10. Industry and Organisational Standards and Procedures
 
The following Industry Standards should be considered at all times, especially if your pharmacy is involved in the QCPP.Standards for the Provision of Pharmacy Medicines and Pharmacist Only Medicines in Community PharmacyOrganisational procedures are usually internally developed and based largely on the Industry Standards and guidelines Procedures may differ from one pharmacy to the next; however all pharmacies must will all abide by the Acts, Regulations and consideration of the Standards.These standards cover many things including the industry accepted protocols for supplying scheduled medicines.Protocols or procedures found in industry standards, as well as in this training and in your pharmacy all aim to ensure that we meet legislative and regulatory requirements for the sale of scheduled medicines. 11. Common Medicines CategoriesEach pharmacy will differ slightly in terms of how they organise the medicines for display and selection (by consumers for Pharmacy Medicines and by staff for Pharmacist Only Medicines).
