CRJ 512 WEEK 5 - DISCUSSION Control Theories Versus Criminological Theories
WEEK 5 - DISCUSSION
Control Theories Versus Criminological Theories |
In Chapter 7 of the primary text, Siegel (2015) discusses social control theories, specifically Travis Hirschi’s social bonding theory (1969). Critique the distinct differences between control theories and criminological theories, critique the major components of the various biological schools of crime causation, and discuss the differences between social control theories and criminological theories. Your initial post should be at least 300 words in length. Support your contentions with citations from the text and/or other scholarly sources. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Guided Response: Review your colleagues’ posts, and substantively respond in a meaningful way to at least two of your peers. Support your arguments with examples from the required material(s) and/or scholarly sources. Continue to monitor the discussion forum until 5:00 p.m. (Mountain Time) on Day 7, and respond with robust dialogue to anyone who replies to your initial post. |
