INSTRUCTIONS
1. Read chapter 17 in The West in the World.
2. View the art/works in the groupings below in your text:
a. Set 1: Worcestershire 1832 (preceding Chapter 17); Figure 17.1 and Figure 17.2.
b. Set 2: Figure 17.3, Figure 17.4, and Figure 17.5.
c. Set 3: Figure 17.7, Figure 17.8, and Figure 17.9.
d. Set 4: Figure 17.10, Figure 17.11, and Figure 17.12.
3. In the Chapter 17 discussion forum, respond to the following:
a. What themes do you see in the art (think about them in the groupings above) and what were the authors trying to convey?
b. Were there ideological or political sentiments that guided the art?
4. Your initial post is due by the end of the fourth day of the workshop.
5. Read and respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings, as well as all follow-up instructor questions directed to you, by the end of the workshop.
6. Your postings should also:
a. Be well developed by providing clear answers with evidence of critical thinking.
b. Your observations should add greater depth to the discussion by introducing new ideas.
c. Provide clarification to classmates’ questions and provide insight into the discussion.
d. Be posted on three different days during the workshop.
