INSTRUCTIONS

1.	Read chapter 15 in The West in the World.  
2.	Read “On the Capitalist Market” by Adam Smith on the MHHE website (http://psi.mcgraw-hill.com/current/psi.php?editionId=44; select “chapter” on top bar; select “15”; click on “On the Capitalist Market”).  
3.	In the Chapter 15 discussion forum, respond to the following:
a.	Describe at least three ways in which Smith- work is representative of the period. Think about the agricultural changes, cottage industry, beginnings of the industrial revolution, and the change in thinking and practice of a money economy. 
4.	Your initial post is due by the end of the fourth day of the workshop.
5.	Read and respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings, as well as all follow-up instructor questions directed to you, by the end of the workshop.
6.	Your postings should also:
a.	Be well developed by providing clear answers with evidence of critical thinking.
b.	Your observations should add greater depth to the discussion by introducing new ideas.
c.	Provide clarification to classmates’ questions and provide insight into the discussion.
d.	Be posted on three different days during the workshop.
