Explain the message that that president conveyed to the public during the election months, identify the president's major accomplishments and failures, and determine whether or not that president lived up to that message once in office.

5. From the end of World War 2 until the present, the United States has shifted between liberalism and conservatism. Explain the economic and social events which led to the shifts. Next, speculate on whether you think that the United States will continue to shift between these two view, and why you believe this will or will not happen.

6. Events within the Middle East have had a significant impact on the United States from the 1970's to the present. Identify these events, and explain why the United States continues to be politically and militarily involved this region.
