HIS 101 FRCC Why Did the Us Really Wish to Go to War Paper

I'm working on a History discussion question and need an explanation to help me learn.

There are 5 questions.When the USS Maine exploded and sank in Havana harbor in February of 1898, the United States looked for someone to blame. As we all know after reviewing this week’s chapter reading, the U.S. blamed the Spanish who controlled Cuba at that time for intentionally sinking the ship. But even at the time, there was no hard evidence that the Spanish were responsible.So why did the U.S. (other than the fact that the ship sank in a Spanish-controlled harbor) seem adamant about placing blame on the Spanish?Might there have been ulterior motives in play here? In your explanation, you probably want to give consideration to the nation's imperialistic thoughts of that time …Can we turn to a similar scenario in the modern day to explain a recent call to war or military intervention by the U.S. in a territory/region beyond the U.S. geographical borders, where here too there was no hard evidence that the accused country (s) was responsible for an act of aggression against this nation?.
