When researching
information for papers, critical thinking, and problem based learning, you need
to be careful to restate information in your own words. After reading several
articles and textbook chapters, take a break to think about the material. That
makes it easier to restate the information in your own words. Remember CITE the
SOURCE. Also please provide REFERENCES for all initial postings.
There is really
minimal need to use direct quotes. Direct quotes should only be used if the
unique phrasing adds something to the discussion. Therefore, read 2-3 sources
about the topic, restate in your own words, and CITE THE SOURCE. It is also
helpful in your discussion to refer back to original topic.
It is important
for you to know that it is NEVER OK to copy word-for-word in any online posting
or paper in this or any other class.
Additionally, every substantive paragraph should have
a citation in APA format.
APA style
headers and sub-headers are important for paper organization. Major papers need to include these to help
with organization and flow of ideas and information.
According to APA
format guidelines, the use of personal pronouns should be avoided.

should be from professional sources with health care professionals as their
target audience, not the general public.
