Gender and Socioeconomics
Prepare: In this course you will be
examining the role of gender in socioeconomics. The role of men and women in
labor has a long history. There have been significant changes that have shaped
the ideals of men and women’s labor. In industrialized countries, gender expectations
placed men in the workplace and women in the home. These standards have had a
major impact on women, hindering their ability to have socioeconomic success.
For this discussion board, you will examine how women operate in the current
economy.
Prior to beginning work on this
discussion, read Chapters 1 and 2 of your course text, and read the
articles Is Globalization Good for
Women? and The Unhappy Marriage Between
Marriage and Globalization. Also, please review the following web pages. You
will discuss one of the case studies presented in the following web pages in
your discussion post:

families and communities.
