JUS 201 Week 3 Assignment Help | southern-new-hampshire-university
3-2 Criminal Investigations Journal: Field Notes
and Report
You are one of the first responding officers to a possible double
homicide scene at 123 Main Street in Hometown, New Hampshire. Upon your
arrival, another officer confirms that there are two subjects inside the home
who are deceased and it appears there has been foul play.
Your sergeant
directed you to secure the outside of the home's perimeter with crime scene
tape. You have successfully completed this task. After securing the scene, you
turn to documenting the event. Compile a set of comprehensive field notes as
you review the following photographs. Include a chronological
description of the event, dwelling, vehicles, weather conditions, and
descriptions of everything you are viewing inside the area that has been
cordoned off with crime scene tape. Include any sketches illustrating
positioning as needed. List any evidence you believe should be collected and
preserved.
Your notes may contain any observations or opinions of a personal
nature, but these opinions should be based upon facts. For example, Jane Doe
staggered when exiting the car and vomited, smelled of alcohol, and had slurred
speech. Based on these observations, an officer can form an opinion that she
was intoxicated.
After completing
your field notes, prepare a written report on the crime event using the Crime Report Template. The shaded areas on the form are
not required. Attach a copy of this form when you submit your assignment.
