Motivation
You have been spending time with the staff at several Jones Pediatric/Adolescent Practice locations. You have noted the following: Due to healthcare management organization and insurance company rules, doctors spend, on average, 10 minutes with a patient during a visit. Nurses are taking over more and more tasks that had previously been performed by doctors; pay rates have gone up over the past few years to accommodate this. Most offices have an entire wall covered with patient pictures and thank-you notes. There is an almost even distribution of patient age groups, including several adolescents who have been coming to the office since they were newborns. Offices are open from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm most days, and all staff work 12-hour shifts at least once a week. You noticed that each office has one nurse and one doctor on call every night; the schedule appears to have been generated at random. On more than one occasion, staff (including doctors) dressed in themed costumes. Which of these items contribute, in a positive way, to employee motivation? Why?
