Business Activities
Prepare the answers in a word processing program with the number and question typed before each answer, and then post only one document with the two chapter questions and answers listed first and then the two Internet exercises (IE) listed afterwards. Please review your word usage, and if possible, use a spell checker before attaching the document to the Dropbox. Be sure to include references and citations to marketing principles in both chapter and IE answers that are not just the location of the questions. Chapter 5 Question: Number 4 at the end of Chapter 5 (not necessarily your city or community, but to one where it would apply): Discuss how slower population growth will affect business in your local community (or one that you know about). Chapter 6 Question: Number 2 at the end of Chapter 6 (look up and refer some, but not totally, to Maslow- “Hierarchy of Needs†in the answer): Explain what is meant by a hierarchy of needs and provide examples of one or more products that enable you to satisfy each of the levels of need. (Maslow was the developer of this theory originally.) Chapter 5 Internet Exercise # 3-1 Visit the website for the Craigslist (www.craigslist.org/about/sites). Many companies and individuals use this site to marketing their products and services. In this site, look for business or commercial marketing activities (not individuals or personals) that seem to be efficient and effective ways to market their items. Review and analyze their effort and determine if this is a good way for a company to sell its products or services. Don't be skimpy with your answers and be sure to relate to marketing issues studied. Chapter 6 Internet Exercise # 3-2 Go to the SRI Internet site (www.sric-bi.com) then click on the “Go to its new location!†and in the blue box at the top-right click on VALS™, and then click on “Take the VALS™ Survey." In essence, continue going from one area to another until you are able to complete the survey. SRI will provide you with your VALS profile. Once you have answered the 35 questions and some information about yourself, click on the Submit button. Immediately on the screen will be your two VALS™ profiles, such as Actualizer/Fullfilled. NOTE: When you do your VALS profile, don't rush through the screens, as your profile will be provided to you immediately on the screen. Take your time and read the screen before you advance too fast or you will miss it. In the definition, your two profile types are highlighted in blue. Click on the blue highlighted words for the full definition of your types. Copy and paste this full definition for submission as your response to item 2 below. Answer all 4 sub-questions with a total of 200 words in this IE. 1. What are your two profile types? (Primary and Secondary) 2. What is the complete definition of your primary and secondary types? 3. Do you believe that the VALS scheme has done a good job in the orientations it placed you in? Please explain why or why not. 4. Relate your answers to marketing principles that businesses should consider and how useful would this information be to a manager.
