A mission statement is developed after taking a close look at the business including why a company is in business or going to go into business, the goals of a business, philosophies held by the owners and top management as well as the company- role to themselves, employees, the community, and other external elements. Taylor Ambulance Company, Inc. has a mission statement of “we will provide the people of Kelsey with quick and professional emergency medical care” (Apollo, 2010, p.1). Taylor Ambulance Company, Inc. has expanded over the years from a small ambulance company that focused on non-emergency transport services into a large ambulance company maintaining 26 vehicles and contracting with the City of Kelsey to provide emergency transportation services. Taylor Ambulance Company, Inc. strives to be the primary source of ambulance services to the community of Kelsey. They have goals of providing efficient and professional ambulance service during emergency situations and non-emergent transports. Organizational Structure Taylor Ambulance Company, Inc. was formed by Donna Taylor and Phillip Embry. The organization has an operations manager who reports to the owners of the corporation. The operations manager is responsible for the billing clerk, communications department, field operations, the training, and education department as well as the support functions. Under the support functions, the company has a Finance Manager, Fleet Manager, HR Manager, and Technical Services/Logistics Manager. This organizational structure is vital for the success of the business. Taylor Ambulance Company, Inc. is responsible for timely response during emergency situations. The organization has to ensure proper training is in place for employees, maintenance protocols are maintained to ensure all vehicles are in proper working condition, and finances are managed appropriately to keep the business profitable so Taylor Ambulance Company, Inc. will be able to continue to provide emergency transportation services to the community of Kelsey and potentially other surrounding areas.
