COMM 218 Develop a 10-minute persuasive presentation on an information technology topic you strongly support. Select a topic from the list below or submit your own idea. Examples include the following:
• Educational merits of video games
• Challenges of a paperless office
• Organizational effectiveness of telecommuting
• The virtual workplace
Incorporate a 6- to 8-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation or another form of media identified in Ch. 15 of Public Speaking.
Write a preparation outline.
• Your delivery will be extemporaneous, using a speaking outline. This presentation requires considerable research and skillful use of persuasion methods. Special emphasis must be provided to evidence and reasoning. This assignment stresses audience analysis and adaptation.
• Follow Monroe- Motivated Sequence in Ch. 14 of Public Speaking, and include a measurable final action step in your presentation.
Deliver your presentation.
• Record a 10-minute presentation. Incorporate your audio files inside each Microsoft® PowerPoint® (or other presentation software) slide. You may also submit your link copied and pasted to a Microsoft® Word® document or in YOUTUBE. While it is not required to see your face during the presentation, you may integrate your presentation using video with PowerPoint, as if you were recording a presentation at a conference or workshop - with PPT behind you, although this is not required.
