Article 1 Military industrial complex
These articles make the case that the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were driven by the financial interests of the US military industrial complex. They argue that this has historical precedent for the US as Vietnam and other time periods show a pattern of the MIC fighting to increase the military budget at all costs. Eisenhower, after all, warned that defense industries did not view the national interest int he same manner as the US state. He pushed them aside during his adminstration as they wanted to go to war in China at the time. Summarize these articles. Do you believe these articles explain US foreign policy? Do you disagree? Why or why not? If you disagree, what reasons do you believe explains US actions. http://www.counterpunch.org/2011/01/18/from-military-industrial-complex-to-permanent-war-state/ (History...shows how the same went for Vietnam) http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Military-industrial_complex (History) http://americasfailureiniraq.com/2010/12/18/why-is-america-in-afghanistan-military-industrial-complex-part-iii/ http://americasfailureiniraq.com/2010/12/25/why-is-america-in-afghanistan-military-industrial-complex-part-iv/ http://dissidentvhttp://americasfailureiniraq.com/2010/12/18/why-is-america-in-afghanistan-military-industrial-complex-part-iii/oice.org/2011/08/the-military-industrial-complex-the-danger-within/ (critique) http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=16887 (Critique)
