Can a leader be too much of a hands on leader/manager or lead too much by example? There is a story about Napoleon during the winter retreat from Moscow. Napoleon's troops were in a bad state marching through the bitter cold and snow, so he decided to dismount from his horse and walk with his soldiers. However, his soldiers would not have this--they wanted to see him lead mounted. Can a leader lose their ability to lead/manage by "stepping down from the perch" too often
